Hey ya,
Long time no post.
How are you?
All well I hope?
Ok, what’s been happening at the club of late?
Well, the week after the Animals, we gave everyone the chance to give the reasons for their photos without a judge telling you where they went wrong, very cathartic.
We followed that with a brief foray into Photoshop, showing how easily it can be to improve your images. Next we were scheduled to do Lightroom, then Affinity.
Unhappily, chinwagging during the tea break over ran, cutting short the evenings planned entertainment. Lightroom was entered but little time for Affinity.
Last week was our Fish’n’chip evening. This is a social evening, ostensibly to get the latest recruits used to the rest of us. Let’s face it, normally we’re running around getting competitions up and running, welcoming guest speakers or organising the evenings entertainment, so we have little time to chat amongst ourselves. This is designed to rectify that. The food was good, Colin didn’t do a quiz and a splendid time was had by all. We also raised a few quid for the club’s coffers. All in all, a successful evening.
Last night we looked at Affinity, Josè doing a very neat job showcasing the program. All those seemingly hard things, covered with simple instructions or a wave of the mouse. Exactly what’s needed to show you don’t have to be a genius. Daunting at first maybe, but the more you practice, the easier it gets.
Very hard to make this sound interesting, but what it also shows, is that someone in the club, has the confidence and the ability to help you when you’re struggling with software. You are not alone!
The second half of the evening was given over to the proposed new club website.
We spoke of this at the AGM in September. Josè, foolishly putting his hand up.
Now, with over seventy hours under his belt, he ran past us what he felt could be done to drag this club into a vibrant, wannabe place to learn the art of photography.
Very impressive. He invited us to see if we had any reservations, thoughts or ideas of how we might drag this, the club, into this modern societal, click on your phone, catch my eye before I scroll on to the next page, generation.
Like I said, very impressive, watch out for further developments.
Thus endeth the evening.
