I thought I’d have a simple section (and José has kindly given me a corner of the website) whereby I give you a two week challenge to get a photo.
Last time out was a mobile phone shots.
So there was no restrictions, any subject, whatever you wanted.
This was just to get the idea off the ground, so to speak.
Congrats to Tony for his Nighttime photo. (Twill be up on the website soon)
This next one, perfect for this season, is gonna be called Object.
We’ll make this a four week one, well, it is the season to be jolly & there’s loads of alcoholic stuff to polish off! Plus there’s lots of shiny stuff to pick as a subject
This photography exercise – and one of my personal favourites – is to choose just one subject, then try to shoot it from at least nine different angles.
Please don’t chose a model/sibling/offspring with nine outfits/hairstyles, the idea is to get you to look at your chosen subject differently.
A few angles to try:
-
Shoot on a level with your subject (eye level, waist level)
-
Shoot from directly above your subject (so you peeps who chose the Battersea Power Station … oops)
-
Get in close
-
Get below your subject and shoot upward (through a coffee table?)
-
Try a different lens
-
Walk around your subject until you have a completely different perspective
Then, once you’ve finished the exercise, pull up the photos on your computer. Take note of the different angles and how they gave your subject different looks. Which one are you most pleased with? Did any shock? Be bold, you’ll be up against the rest of the club. Try to catch our eye.
Send it in to the normal address.
They will be eligible for any of our competitions in the future (as long as they fit the criteria)
You’ll be judged by your peers.
Winner gets their name in lights.
